The Ducournau Townhouse

The Ducournau Townhouse is located on the second and third floors of the Ducournau Building that was constructed circa 1835 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the heart of the Natchitoches Landmark Historic District and features large galleries on the Front Street side and the rear (entry) side of the townhouse. The Front Street gallery is adorned with imported iron lacework and overlooks the beautiful Cane River Park. Here, one can enjoy the view and be reminded of a bygone lifestyle.

The entrance of the Ducournau is accessed by stairs located in the brick-paved courtyard that is connected to Front Street. Parking is located in the rear of the townhouse. The carriageway connecting Front Street to the carriage house lounge in the courtyard is one of two in Natchitoches. These carriageways and the ones in the French Quarter of New Orleans are thought to be the only ones of their kind in an historic district between Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA.

The structure is a classic early nineteenth century building made from locally produced bricks and timber, It contains thick brick walls, high ceilings, original fireplaces, and many period antiques which add to the ambiance and experience of our guests. The main floor includes the living, dining, and kitchen area as well as the two main bedrooms: the Master Bedroom and the Library Room. The upper floor contains two more bedrooms with a large jack-and-jill style bathroom.
