Owners Rick and Mary Ann Nowlin

Both Rick and Mary Ann have a passion for the Natchitoches community and its history. The townhouse is their way of gladly showing the town’s culture, cuisine and Southern charm to travelers from afar and visitors from a bit closer to home.

Rick is a professional engineer who joined the Natchitoches community in 1979 to be closer to his family. He owned and managed an engineering company for 40 years, then passed the reins to his senior staff in 2019. Rick also served this area in the state legislature and as its first Parish President under the new Home Rule Charter form of government. Even with his demanding workload as an engineer and public servant, Rick found time to own and operate the Ducournau Townhouse. With the end of his public service in early 2020 and reduced workload at the engineering company, Rick devotes more time to the townhouse, which is one of his favorite things to do.

Mary Ann served as Executive Assistant to the mayor of Natchitoches for 15 years, and later as Regional Vice President of LaCapitol Federal Credit Union for 14 years. With her recent retirement from LaCapitol, Mary Ann has taken a leading role in the management of the townhouse and enjoys greeting the guests.
